“If Governor Fubara Extends a Hand of Fellowship, We Will Work with Him” – APC Rivers
Emeka Beke, the recently reinstated Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, announced on Tuesday that his party is prepared to collaborate with Governor Sim Fubara, provided the governor extends an offer of fellowship.
In an appearance on Arise TV’s Morning Show, Beke emphasized the need for Fubara to be allowed to execute his constitutional responsibilities as governor. He also dismissed any claims of a connection between Fubara and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, stating, “I worked with Rotimi Amaechi, who remains my leader, but he has no link with Fubara.”
Beke stressed that APC’s readiness to work with Fubara hinges on the governor’s gesture towards the party. He underscored the need for unity, remarking, “We cannot continue fighting; Rivers is going backwards. It is time to move beyond politicking and focus on governance.”
The relationship between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, has been contentious, primarily over control of the state’s political structure. Despite attempts at resolution by key stakeholders and President Bola Tinubu, the rift persists, affecting the state legislature, which is currently divided with factional speakers.
