“Don’t Blackmail Wabara with Media Campaign” – PDP Group Warns Wike

The PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress, a pro-PDP group, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, of masterminding a media campaign against Senator Adolphus Wabara, the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT).

Addressing journalists in Umuahia, the group’s National Coordinator, Emeka “Yellow” Ikpegbu, alleged that Wike is not only behind the media attacks on Wabara but is also responsible for the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State.

Ikpegbu condemned Wike’s reaction to the recent visit of PDP BoT members to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, asserting that no media campaign would undermine the solidarity shown during the visit. He emphasized that the visit, which was intended to strengthen the PDP in Rivers State and across the nation, was supported by progressives within the party.

The group also echoed the call by Niger Delta leader Chief Edwin Clark for Wike’s expulsion from the PDP, citing his attempts to maintain control in Rivers State despite having completed his tenure as governor.

“Wike was shocked by the BoT members’ visit and their assurances to Governor Fubara. He thinks he can still control the state after being in power for eight years,” Ikpegbu remarked. He urged PDP stakeholders, particularly the party’s governors, to rally behind the BoT members in their efforts to reposition the party for a resounding victory in the 2027 elections.

The group further criticized Wike’s alleged failure to make Governor Fubara a political puppet, urging PDP leaders to reject godfatherism and promote internal democracy within the party. Ikpegbu concluded by stating that godfatherism has been a major threat to the PDP’s stability and success.
