Delta Highlife Musician Set to Marry Three Brides in One Day
Renowned Delta State highlife musician, Dr. Arube Otor, widely known as Isoko Fela One, is preparing to marry three women simultaneously in a unique ceremony scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2025. The event will take place at the Anglican Church Field in London Base, Uzere Kingdom, Isoko South Local Government Area.
Dr. Arube, aged 55, and his future wives—Oghenekome, Ewoma, and Oghenekaro—all from Delta State, were featured in a widely circulated wedding flier dressed in matching attire. The announcement has garnered significant attention across the region.
Speaking to our correspondent on Wednesday, Arube’s foster son and event organizer, Emperor Efih (Oscar), confirmed the wedding plans. He revealed that the original number of intended brides was four, but one withdrew for personal reasons. Efih explained that Arube’s decision to marry multiple women simultaneously was partly influenced by financial considerations.
“Arube married two women about 20 years ago,” Efih said. “One later divorced him, leaving him with a single wife. To save costs, he decided to marry four women this year, though one eventually pulled out.”
Efih further described Arube as a legendary figure in Delta State’s music scene. “He has been performing Isoko highlife music for over 30 years. He started as a driver who combined his job with music. About 12 years ago, he formed his dance band, Arube, and has since released more than 10 albums.”
The three wives represent different communities in Delta State: Edafemaga from Lagos-Iyede in Ndokwa East LGA, Agbede from Oruamudhu Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North LGA, and Samuel Atubi from Uroto Quarter, Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North LGA. Two of the women have already borne him children, while the third is awaiting the blessing of motherhood.
Efih also disclosed that Arube performed the traditional marriage rites with the three women on the same day last year.
