Court Stops Suspension of Wabara as PDP BoT Chairman

 

A legal battle has erupted between the Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara. The Abia State High Court sitting in Obehie, Ukwa West Local Government Area, has issued an order stopping the enforcement of Wabara’s suspension as BoT Chairman.

 

Justice L.T.C. Eruba, who presided over the case between Wabara and Abraham Amah, ruled that Amah could not claim the Abia State chairmanship of the PDP or enforce Wabara’s suspension. The suit, marked HUK/8/2025, was filed by Wabara to prevent the enforcement of his suspension from the party. Granting Wabara’s request, the court ordered that his suspension should not be enforced until the motion on notice is determined.

 

Amah had earlier announced Wabara’s suspension, accusing him of anti-party activities. One of the allegations was that Wabara had praised Governor Alex Otti’s performance, which Amah claimed was a betrayal of the PDP.

 

Meanwhile, the PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress, a pro-PDP group, has refuted claims made by former Abia State Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu. Okiyi had alleged that Wabara held a secret meeting in London with Governor Otti to discuss Otti’s possible defection to the PDP. The group’s National Coordinator, Emeka Yellow Ikpegbu, challenged Okiyi to provide evidence of the alleged meeting.
