“Bobrisky Spent Only Three Weeks Here Before Being Moved” – Prison Source Reveals

A new investigative report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) has uncovered that popular Nigerian crossdresser and social media influencer, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, widely known as Bobrisky, served only three weeks of a six-month prison sentence, spending the rest of the term in a secret location.

This revelation surfaced after social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, leaked an audio recording where Bobrisky allegedly claimed that she or he had bribed officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to drop money laundering charges.

According to the FIJ report, Bobrisky was initially transferred to Kirikiri Prison in April 2023 after her or his sentencing. However, sources revealed that she or he was only held in the prison for three weeks before being relocated to an undisclosed location.

VIP Treatment Behind Bars

An anonymous prison official told FIJ that Bobrisky received extraordinary privileges while in custody, comparing the treatment to that of a president. “Bob spent only three weeks here with us in Kirikiri before she was moved to another place we don’t know,” the source stated. “It was all arranged, and money was involved.”

The insider added that Bobrisky stayed in a special cell and had little interaction with other inmates during the brief time she or he spent at the prison. The official also confirmed the authenticity of Bobrisky’s claims regarding the payment, stating, “The money she said she paid is true; she paid the money.”

High-Profile Surveillance

Throughout her or his time at Kirikiri, Bobrisky was heavily guarded. One incident stood out, as described by the source, when a fellow inmate inadvertently filmed Bobrisky during a video call with his girlfriend. This breach of privacy resulted in the inmate being confined to his cell for nearly two months as punishment.

The report aligns with earlier investigations conducted by FIJ founder, Fisayo Soyombo, who exposed the corrupt practices within Nigeria’s prison system. According to Soyombo’s findings, it is possible to pay for luxurious treatment in prison, including access to contraband items and even arranging to serve time outside the prison walls.
