“APC Wants Us in Disarray; They Plant Moles in PDP,” Gov Bala Mohammed

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of infiltrating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State in a bid to cause internal strife for political gain. He made the claim during a visit from the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) on Wednesday.

Mohammed expressed concerns over the ongoing power tussle between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now serving as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under the APC-led government.

He alleged that the APC’s strategy is to create divisions within the PDP by planting moles to weaken the opposition. “They want us to be in disarray. It’s a creation of the APC; they want to have the knowledge of what is happening within us,” Mohammed said. He further added that Wike’s strong performance under the APC highlights the ruling party’s reliance on former PDP members, noting, “They don’t have people who can perform like our members.”

The visit came just a day after the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) also met with Mohammed, who chairs the PDP Governors Forum. The governor reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the crisis, emphasizing the need for party unity. “We cannot compromise the peace and unity of our great party,” he stated.

BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara praised Mohammed’s leadership in addressing the issue and revealed plans to engage with both factions in Rivers State to find a resolution. He expressed disappointment over the crisis, noting that Nigerians, like the PDP leadership, are unhappy with the ongoing turmoil in Rivers State.
