Zulum says Army and Police have failed to protect commuters, army says this is fake news
The executive governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum has declared that the Nigerian army has failed in discharging their responsibilities.
Zulum said this when he visited the area where commuters were kidnapped recently. A visibly angry Zulum said that he travelled from Maiduguri this morning and did not see a single military checkpoint on the route.
He said: if the army and police cannot protect commuters in a distance of 20km then what is the point of them being there.
Zulum further added that even the police are only at checkpoints collecting money from poor villagers and harassing motorists. He added that even the Nigerian army are also guilty of collecting money at checkpoints.
He insisted that the federal government and the army must rethink their strategy as they had failed in protecting lives and property of citizens.
The army has however responded to the governors comments and tagged it as fake news.
