Why We Extended Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement Deadline — Police
The Nigeria Police Force has explained that the decision to extend the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows was prompted by a surge in applications from vehicle owners.
The enforcement deadline, initially set for August 12, 2025, has now been moved to October 2, 2025. Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Monday, said the significant increase in applications through the official online platform indicated a growing level of public compliance.
“This decision follows a significant increase in applications via the official platform, showing heightened public compliance,” Adejobi stated.
He added that the extra time would allow the police to thoroughly review all pending applications to ensure that permits are granted only to qualified individuals, in line with national security considerations.
The Tinted Glass Permit regulation is aimed at preventing the misuse of tinted vehicle windows by criminal elements while ensuring that their use does not hinder law enforcement operations. The extension, according to the police, provides additional time for vehicle owners to regularise their documentation before the new enforcement date.
