‘Where’s the heap of rubbish?’: Paul Enenche praises Alex Otti over Aba’s transformation

The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, has commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti for what he described as visible improvements in the cleanliness and outlook of Aba.

Mr Enenche made the remarks during a two-day healing and miracle crusade held in Umuahia, the Abia State capital. The event, themed “God of Mercy,” took place at the Umuahia Township Stadium, which is currently undergoing renovation by the state government.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Mr Enenche had earlier ministered in Aba before proceeding to Umuahia. He said he was struck by the transformation of the commercial city, noting the absence of refuse heaps that previously characterised parts of the area.

He described the cleaner environment as a sign of broader change and expressed optimism about the state’s future, particularly in industrial development. He also acknowledged Governor Otti’s leadership, citing what he called a commitment to both governance and public welfare.

“I was surprised… clean streets, no heaps of rubbish,” the cleric said, adding that the improvements reflected a positive direction for the state.

Governor Otti, speaking at the event, welcomed Mr Enenche and his wife, Becky, and thanked them for their visit and prayers for the state. He also highlighted reported testimonies of healing during the programme, attributing them to divine intervention.

The governor reiterated that his administration remains focused on rebuilding infrastructure and improving living conditions. He pointed to ongoing and upcoming projects, including the development of a central bus terminal in Umuahia, which he said would be among the largest in the country.

Mr Otti also thanked residents for their support, describing his government as people-driven. He acknowledged that reforms may attract criticism but maintained that such reactions were expected.

The event was attended by senior government officials and drew a large crowd of worshippers from within and outside the state.
