We Will Distribute Sachet Water, Sweets to Protesters – Edo Commissioner of Police
In a proactive measure to ensure the #EndBadGovernance protests remain peaceful, the Edo State Police Command has announced plans to support demonstrators by distributing sachet water and sweets.
“We had a meeting with some leaders of the protest, and we agreed that it must be peaceful. We will protect them, but there will be no blocking of roads or violence,” Commissioner of Police Funsho Adegboye revealed during a press briefing on Wednesday evening.
He further explained that the police would provide sachet water and sweets to demonstrators, contingent on the protest’s peaceful nature. “We have agreed that they will only occupy Kings Square, which is the venue of the protest,” said Adegboye.
While affirming citizens’ right to protest, the police commissioner reassured non-participating residents that they are free to continue with their daily activities without interference. He also issued a stern warning to potential troublemakers, stating, “Any attempt to disrupt the peace will be met with decisive action.”
