“We Remain the Only Party That Can Defeat Tinubu in 2027” – PDP Boasts as It Slams ADC Over ‘Unprovoked Attack’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sharply criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over what it described as an unprovoked attack by the ADC’s interim National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi. In a statement released Tuesday, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, accused Abdullahi of launching a verbal assault on national television rather than focusing on pressing national issues.

Ologunagba described Abdullahi’s comments as reckless and revealing, noting his past role as a chief spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC), which the PDP labelled as deceitful and failed. According to the statement, Abdullahi’s remarks appear to stem from concern over the PDP’s growing momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The PDP emphasised that it would not engage in public spats with other opposition parties, stating its focus remains on holding the APC accountable and preparing to lead a national recovery. The party reiterated its position as the main opposition with widespread support across the country, asserting that it is the only platform capable of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the next presidential election.

Despite recent defections, the PDP maintained that its core strength lies in the support of the Nigerian people. It stressed that it continues to enjoy loyalty and solidarity from citizens nationwide and remains committed to installing a people-focused government in 2027.

Highlighting its legacy and experience, the PDP stated that it has a wealth of presidential hopefuls with the competence and track record to challenge President Tinubu successfully. The party added that it remains open to alliances with like-minded individuals and groups in a collective effort to oust the APC and steer Nigeria toward a new direction.
