“President Tinubu Is Not Doing Well” — APC Chieftain

In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figure Sunny Moniedafe expressed strong dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, declaring that the president “is not doing well.” Moniedafe, a former aspirant for the position of APC Deputy National Chairman (North), also voiced serious concerns about the internal state of the ruling party, warning that the APC may be headed for collapse if current dynamics persist.

Moniedafe responded to calls from former members of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), who urged President Tinubu to ensure the vice-presidential slot remains with their faction ahead of the 2027 elections. “I don’t blame them. They have a point. Everyone wants to protect their interests,” he said. “I think we are heading for the rocks.”

He criticized the enduring influence of legacy blocs within the APC—namely, the ANPP, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN)—arguing that such divisions undermine the party’s unity. According to him, party elders should be more involved in guiding the administration, but many key stakeholders remain silent or disengaged from policy matters.

Moniedafe questioned the wisdom of controversial policy moves like the removal of fuel subsidies and expressed discomfort with the language President Tinubu used when selecting Vice President Kashim Shettima. He also took issue with the President’s early indications of seeking a second term, suggesting that a forum of respected party elders could have helped steer the administration more effectively.
