ADC raises alarm over alleged plot to disrupt Ibadan opposition summit

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that there are attempts to frustrate its planned opposition summit scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The party said it uncovered what it described as efforts linked to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) aimed at disrupting the gathering billed for April 25.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the allegation in a post on X on Saturday, stating that the party would not be deterred from proceeding with its plans.

“We have uncovered plans by the ruling APC to disrupt the summit being held by the opposition parties in Ibadan,” Abdullahi said.

He described the alleged situation as part of a broader pattern of interference with opposition activities, claiming that similar issues had previously affected the party’s operations in Abuja.

“After denying us the use of venues in Abuja, they now will not leave us alone to hold our meetings,” he said.

Abdullahi further suggested that the actions being attributed to the ruling party were inconsistent with its public posture.

“They say they are not scared, but they are behaving like people who are terrified,” he stated.

Despite the claims, the ADC said it would proceed with the summit as planned, insisting that its political activities were focused on public interest.

“We will not be deterred, because we are on the side of the Nigerian people,” Abdullahi added.

The latest allegation comes months after the party raised similar concerns during an earlier convention in Abuja, where it also claimed there were last-minute attempts to disrupt its event.
