Video: “Never Did We Dream I’d Be President, Alex a Businessman” – Tinubu Shows Off Schoolmate During Abuja Event
President Bola Tinubu on Monday shared a personal moment during the launch of 2,000 tractors and other machinery under the Federal Government’s Agricultural Mechanization Programme in Abuja. While addressing guests at the event, Tinubu introduced a man named Alex, whom he described as his former neighbour and schoolmate from their time together in Chicago, United States.
The President expressed surprise at the turns their lives had taken, noting that neither of them could have predicted their future successes. Tinubu, now President of Nigeria, said Alex had gone on to become a successful businessman from Belarus.
“To all of you, Alex was my very good neighbour and went to the same school with me in Chicago,” he said. “Never did we dream that I would be in this position as President of Nigeria and Alex, a successful businessman from Belarus.”
President Tinubu used the occasion to commend the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for its work in tackling the nation’s food challenges. He praised the ministry’s efforts in stabilising the food system and advancing agricultural mechanisation as a solution to the current food crisis.
