“We Made a Mistake Supporting Tinubu” — Kannywood Actor Sadiq Apologises, Raises Alarm Over Northern Insecurity
Veteran Kannywood actor Sadiq Sani Sadiq has issued a public apology to Nigerians, particularly residents of Northern Nigeria, over his past support for President Bola Tinubu, citing worsening insecurity and economic hardship across the region.
In a video message reacting to escalating violence, Sadiq said backing the current administration was a misjudgment and urged voters to be more cautious in future elections.
His remarks come amid growing concern over persistent attacks, kidnappings, and killings in several northern states, developments that have disrupted farming and displaced rural communities.
“We admit that we made a mistake in choosing this government,” he said, pointing to what he described as an inadequate response to security challenges.
Sadiq highlighted states including Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Niger, Kwara, Benue, Plateau, Borno, Yobe, and Gombe as heavily affected, noting that areas once considered relatively stable are now experiencing similar threats.
He said the situation has severely affected agriculture, a major economic activity in the region, with many farmers unable to access their land due to safety concerns.
The actor also criticised what he described as uneven development and resource allocation, warning that such trends could deepen national divisions.
He urged Nigerians to remain politically aware and actively participate in future elections, emphasising the need to hold leaders accountable through the ballot.
