“Leave Him Alone” — Tinubu Urges Calm After Man Attempts to Approach During Kaduna Event
President Bola Tinubu’s speech in Kaduna on Thursday was briefly interrupted when an unidentified man attempted to approach the stage during a public event, prompting a swift response from security officials. Tinubu was in the state to inaugurate several infrastructure projects executed by Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
As the man moved toward the president mid-speech, members of the security detail quickly stepped in to restrain him. Tinubu, though momentarily surprised, remained composed and called for calm. In a firm but measured tone, he told his security team, “Leave him alone,” signalling a desire to defuse the situation without escalating tension.
Otega Ogra, Tinubu’s senior special assistant on digital and new media, later praised the response, describing it as “handled with utmost professionalism by secret service agents without any disruption to Mr President’s speech or the event.” He noted that Tinubu is protected by “some of the finest, well-trained and most professional officers and agents from our internal security, intelligence, and military institutions.”
The visit to Kaduna was part of President Tinubu’s wider effort to engage with state governments, promote infrastructure achievements, and reinforce federal-state cooperation. During the visit, he commended Governor Sani’s administration for its commitment to development across the state.
