Two Secondary School Students Tortured to Death by Senior Students, 12 Arrested
Two students of Government Secondary School, Bichi, in Kano State, were tortured to death by a group of senior students on the night of July 14, 2025. The attack, which occurred at about 11:30pm inside one of the hostels, also left two other students critically injured and hospitalised.
The school principal, Yusuf Ado Yakasai, reported the incident to the police the following day, stating that the victims—Hamza Idris (19, SS3B), Umar Yusuf (18, SS2C), Ibrahim Ibrahim (SS2B), and Aliyu M. Nasir (SS2C)—were allegedly lured into a hostel by a group of seniors. According to Yakasai, the victims were accused of engaging in unnatural offences and were then violently assaulted.
All four students were rushed to Bichi General Hospital, where Idris and Yusuf were confirmed dead. The two surviving students, Ibrahim and Nasir, are currently receiving treatment and are reportedly in stable condition.
Police have arrested 12 students in connection with the attack. The suspects include Suleman Abdullahi, Ahmad Sanusi, Lawan Alasan Tambai, Aliyu Idris, and Abubakar Abdulaziz (SS3A); Ibrahim Nura and Hamza Isiyaku (SS3B); Usaini Mamuda, Masaudu Idris, and Yasir Murtala (SS3C); and Abubakar Muhammad (SS3D).
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured that those found responsible will be prosecuted according to the law.
