Two Killed in Anambra Road Accident, FRSC Confirms
Tragedy struck on the Onitsha-Awka expressway in Anambra State as two people lost their lives in a fatal accident. The incident, which occurred at Nteje in the Oyi Local Government Area, involved a Toyota Camry (registration number: UWN 531 AS) and a commercial IVECO Turbostar tanker (registration number: ADM 619 XA).
According to eyewitness reports, the driver of the Toyota Camry lost control of the vehicle after experiencing brake failure, leading to a collision with the tanker. The crash claimed the lives of a male and female adult, while two other male occupants were rescued unhurt.
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, confirmed the incident and attributed the crash to brake failure and loss of control. She expressed her condolences to the families of the deceased and urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations and ensure their vehicles are regularly maintained.
“Three male adults and one female adult were involved in the crash. Unfortunately, one male and one female adult lost their lives. The victims had been taken to the mortuary by the time our rescue team arrived,” Alexander said.
The FRSC team managed the traffic situation and ensured the wrecked vehicles were promptly removed from the road to prevent further incidents.
