Soludo Sets New Criteria for Recruitment of Permanent Secretaries in Anambra

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has approved new guidelines for the recruitment of permanent secretaries in Anambra State, setting clear eligibility standards for interested civil servants and opening the process to qualified officers across the public service.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Head of Service, Ngozi Iwouno, which outlined the conditions for participation and the procedure for application.

According to the guidelines, applicants must be confirmed officers within the state civil service and must belong to the directorate cadre. Eligible candidates are required to be not below the rank of Deputy Director and not above Director level. They must also have at least two years remaining before retirement.

The process is not limited to officers within the Anambra State Civil Service. Civil servants from other jurisdictions who meet the same cadre requirements are also permitted to apply.

Applications are to be submitted through the state government’s online portal. Candidates are expected to print their completed forms and deliver them to the Office of the Head of Service in Awka on or before April 8, 2026. Only shortlisted applicants will advance to the next stage of the selection process.

Permanent secretaries serve as administrative heads of ministries, responsible for coordinating operations and ensuring implementation of government policies across sectors.

The state government said the exercise is intended to strengthen administrative capacity and improve efficiency within the civil service structure. Anambra currently has 19 permanent secretaries and two auditors-general in its public service.
