SASA rescues two abducted Ebonyi children, arrests suspected trafficker in Anambra
The Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) has rescued two children abducted from Ebonyi State and arrested a suspected trafficker linked to their movement across state lines.
The victims, aged three and five, were taken from Umuezeokoha community in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State before being transported to Anambra State.
SASA Director, Chief Monday Nwokoye, said the suspect, identified as Sunday Nonye, was apprehended after intelligence information led operatives to his location.
He was traced to a hotel in Nkpor, where he was allegedly preparing to dispose of the children.
Following the arrest, the suspect was first taken to the SASA office in Upper Iweka, Onitsha, before being transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation.
Nwokoye said early findings suggest the suspect may be part of a wider trafficking network operating across several states, including Rivers, Lagos, Oyo, and Edo.
The children have since been returned safely to their family in Ebonyi State.
