Tribunal Sacks PDP Rep
The National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Owerri on Wednesday, sacked the member representing Isiala Mbano/Onuimo/Okigwe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Obinna Onwubuariri.
Delivering judgement on the petition filed by princess Miriam Onuoha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the declaration of Onwuabuariri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the poll, the tribunal led by Justice R. Harriman held that Onuoha was able to prove beyond reasonable doubts, her allegations of over voting, mutilation of results and reduction of her votes.
The tribunal ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Onwuabuariri since his declaration as the winner of the poll was done in utter disregard of the 2010 Electoral Law as amended.
Justice Harriman also ordered INEC to conduct a fresh poll in the federal constituency within 90 days from the date of the judgment.
