Tinubu running failed government — Ex-presidential aspirant resigns from APC

A former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. SKC Ogbonnia, has resigned from the party, citing dissatisfaction with its leadership and direction under President Bola Tinubu.

Ogbonnia submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday to the APC chairman of Owelli/Amoli/Ugbo/Ogugu Ward in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State. The letter was copied to party leaders at all levels, and he returned his APC membership card alongside it.

In the letter, Ogbonnia accused President Tinubu of presiding over what he described as a failed government, claiming that the situation had contributed to foreign military intervention in Nigeria.

He said his decision followed consultations with his family and political associates, as well as personal reflection on the country’s political situation and developments within the APC.

Ogbonnia recalled that he joined the APC as a founding member with expectations of reform, national development, and improved governance, but said those expectations had not been met.

According to him, recent developments within the party and the country made it “untenable and unbearable” for him to remain a member.

He listed insecurity, rising poverty, and unemployment as key failures of the current administration, noting that these issues pose serious risks to the future of Nigerians, particularly young people.

Ogbonnia also accused the APC of lacking internal democracy, alleging widespread imposition of leaders, marginalization of loyal members, vendetta politics, nepotism, and practices that undermine members’ electoral rights.

He further alleged that the party was working toward a one-party system through actions aimed at weakening opposition parties.

On youth participation, Ogbonnia criticized what he described as the exclusion of young people from major federal appointments, saying it reflected a lack of commitment to future leadership development.
