Teen Boy Who Faked Deafness for a Year Arrested for Allegedly Spying for Kidnappers
Authorities in Kebbi State have arrested a young boy who allegedly pretended to be deaf for a year to secretly collect and relay information to kidnappers.
Abuzaidu Abubakar Yari disclosed the arrest in a Facebook post on Monday, March 2, 2026. According to Yari, the boy admitted that he, along with two accomplices, was tasked with gathering intelligence on residents in the Makera Gandu area of Birnin Kebbi.
The boy reportedly learned sign language to communicate with the others and is originally from Niger State.
Yari urged residents to remain vigilant and cautious of strangers in their communities.
