Suicide Bomber Claims Own Life, Injures 2 in Biu, Borno State
A suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, injuring two individuals, as confirmed by the local police.
ASP Daso Nahum, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Borno State Police Command, disclosed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.
The explosion took place around 8 pm on Sunday during the nightly prayers observed by Muslim worshippers.
According to Nahum, the male suicide bomber, suspected to be targeting the mosque, triggered the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the roundabout, resulting in his own demise.
“Two bystanders, wounded by the blast, were swiftly transported to a medical facility for urgent treatment,” Nahum stated.
In response to the incident, a collaborative effort involving security personnel was immediately mobilized to restore calm to the affected area.
Nahum emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance, particularly during Ramadan, when many Muslims engage in late-night prayers.
“People must remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the security authorities,” he urged.
