Senior Police Officer Kidnapped on Abuja-Kaduna Highway
Chief Superintendent of Police Modestus Ojiebe has been abducted along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway near Dei-Dei Police Barracks in the Federal Capital Territory. The officer, who is attached to the Kwara State Police Command, was taken while attempting to fix his broken-down vehicle.
According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Ojiebe was accosted by four armed men in an ash-colored Mercedes-Benz. The assailants robbed him and his wife of their mobile phones and ATM cards before discovering his police identity card. Upon realizing his status, they forced him into their vehicle and sped off, leaving his wife and their car behind.
Following the abduction, the Divisional Police Officer of Dawaki Division received a distress call and dispatched a patrol team to the scene. Security agencies have since intensified stop-and-search operations at various entry and exit points of the FCT in an effort to rescue the officer and apprehend the kidnappers.
At least three independent security sources, including police officers, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, though further details remain undisclosed.
