Police Rescue Kidnap Victim Held in ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ Bag
The Rivers State Police Command has successfully rescued a 16-year-old teenager who was kidnapped in Enugu and transported to Port Harcourt concealed in a ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bag.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Mr. Olatunji Disu, during a press conference held yesterday in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
According to Disu, the teenage victim was repeatedly raped by her captors after being taken to Port Harcourt. The case came to light when officers at the Abuloma Police Station received credible intelligence regarding the suspicious activities of one of the suspects.
“Upon receiving the information, officers were deployed to the area, where they successfully apprehended one male suspect and rescued the teenager, who had been held against her will,” Disu stated.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had lured the girl from her residence in Garki, Enugu. She was forcibly placed inside a ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bag and transported from Enugu to Port Harcourt, where she was kept at the residence of an alleged internet fraudster.
Further investigations are ongoing as the police seek to apprehend other suspects.
