Man Arrested for Murdering Friend After Taking N500,000 Loan

Yunus Isa, a 24-year-old resident of Yobe State, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly murdering his friend and business associate, Lawan Adamu, over a debt of N500,000.

According to Sahara Reporters, both Isa and Adamu were engaged in the trade of engine oil and lubricants in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital. Isa had borrowed N500,000 from Adamu under the pretense of using it to establish a new business venture with a profit-sharing arrangement. However, Isa used the funds for personal reasons, including marrying, and subsequently failed to honor the repayment agreement.

On September 15, 2024, Isa lured Adamu to a secluded area in Shago Tara, Nayi Nawa, where he fatally attacked him with a knife. Isa initially denied his involvement in the crime, but following intense interrogation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), he confessed to the murder.

DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesperson for the Yobe State Police Command, confirmed Isa’s arrest, stating, “The swift resolution of this case underscores our commitment to justice and public safety. Isa committed this heinous act to evade repayment of the debt he owed Adamu, ultimately leading to the victim’s tragic death.”

The police continue their investigation to ensure justice for the victim and uphold public trust in the legal system.
