Police Questions to Ajaero Revealed by Deputy Lead Counsel to NLC President
Maxwell Opara, the Deputy Lead Counsel for Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, has shed light on the circumstances surrounding Ajaero’s recent visit to the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigerian police force.
According to Opara, the police invitation was primarily focused on gathering information about a tenant occupying a shop within the Labour Secretariat. This clarification comes after widespread speculation, following an invitation letter sent to Ajaero on August 19, 2024, which mentioned more serious allegations, including terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, cybercrime, and criminal conspiracy.
Opara stated that the meeting was brief and did not delve into the severe accusations outlined in the initial invitation. He emphasized that while they complied with the invitation, they remain vigilant about future developments.
“We honored the invitation, and they merely asked a few questions regarding the tenant. However, this doesn’t mean we will let our guard down, as we are uncertain about what might come next,” Opara remarked.
