“Peter Obi Has Never Asked What We Are Doing” — Obidient Movement Director Resigns, Slams Leadership

Morris Monye, the director of mobilisation for the Obidient Movement, a pro-Peter Obi political group, has resigned, citing a lack of commitment and communication from Mr. Obi.

In a statement released on Thursday, Monye revealed that he personally contributed approximately N40 million to support the movement’s activities, adding that the movement’s directorate never received any official funding or established a bank account.

“Mr. Peter Obi has never inquired about our mobilisation efforts. Monye’s resignation comes less than a month after two senior members of the Obidient Movement’s diaspora wing, David Ogula and Bolanle Emiabata Anibaba, also left the organisation. In their statement, they described a dysfunctional structure that undermined local and international efforts to establish a cohesive network.

“A carefully planned framework to establish local structures and build a formidable force for good was subverted by pedestrian antics,” they said, adding that the movement’s opaque setup restricted legal autonomy and hindered operations across borders.
