Reno Omokri Blasts Peter Obi for Silence on Trump’s Threat to Send Troops to Nigeria
Reno Omokri has taken aim at Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for what he called a troubling silence over President Donald Trump’s recent warning to send American troops to Nigeria. Trump had declared Nigeria a “Country of Concern” and suggested possible military intervention to curb what he described as ongoing attacks on Christians, a statement that has sparked widespread reactions both within Nigeria and abroad.
In a post shared on his verified Facebook page, Omokri accused Obi of staying quiet at a critical time, calling his silence “deeply suspicious” and unworthy of a leader seeking national office. He argued that Nigerians should take note of Obi’s refusal to speak, suggesting it may indicate hidden motives or tacit agreement with Trump’s position.
“No good leader goes underground when the sound of thunder threatens his country,” Omokri wrote, implying that Obi’s lack of response raises serious questions. He further claimed that Obi’s silence could be seen as indirect endorsement of the U.S. president’s controversial stance, saying, “A man who has an opinion on everything suddenly goes quiet. That is a most suspicious and inauspicious silence.”
