PDP Reacts to Wike’s Alleged Defection to APC

In response to widespread speculation regarding the purported defection of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP has officially addressed the issue.

Contrary to rumors fueled by Wike’s appointment to a role in the APC government by President Bola Tinubu, Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, clarified on Monday that Wike remains a steadfast member of the PDP. Ologunagba emphasized that Wike has not submitted his resignation from the party.

When questioned about the possibility of suspending Wike from the party, Ologunagba asserted in an interview with Channels TV that “the answer in one word is no. Nobody is afraid of Wike.” He further elaborated, stating, “Membership of a political party is personal. Nyesom Wike has not resigned from PDP to the best of my knowledge.”

Highlighting the challenges faced by the PDP before the general elections, Ologunagba acknowledged internal issues but emphasized the party’s capability to reconcile and unite its members. He underscored the importance of a strong PDP in stabilizing Nigeria, asserting that the APC has “lost it” with no clear vision or direction.
