“Those Who Accused Me of Destabilizing PDP Are Now in APC” – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that those who once accused him of destabilizing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have now defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking on Wednesday during the flag-off of the construction of the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction in the Apo area of Abuja, Wike said the defectors should commend him for paving the way for their current political alignment.

Wike’s comments followed the recent defection of prominent PDP members, including Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and former National Youth Leader of the party, Sunday Udeh-Okoye, to the APC. Udeh-Okoye, who had previously contested for the position of PDP National Secretary against Wike’s ally, Samuel Anyanwu, recently stated during a television interview that the Southeast has now found a home in the APC.

Reflecting on the shifting political landscape, Wike said that the current administration under President Bola Tinubu has received unprecedented bipartisan support. “It has never been like this before; whichever party you belong to, everyone has been working together to support this administration,” he said.

The minister added that those who criticized him for allegedly undermining the PDP are now aligned with the very party they accused him of supporting. “I’ve been watching on television and social media people who said I wanted to destabilize the party and that I was working for APC. Now, all of them are in APC,” he said. “So, they should commend me for working for where they are heading to. I should be commended for doing a good job for them.”
