PDP Candidate Wins House of Reps Seat in Bauchi
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mohammed Auwal Jatau winner of Saturday’s Zaki Federal constituency supplementary election in Bauchi state.
According to the returning officer of the election, Professor Ahmed Kutama, Jatau polled 15,405 votes to beat his closet rival, Omar Tata of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 15,307 votes.
The supplementary election was ordered by the Court of Appeal. Jatau, who is currently the Commissioner of Health in Bauchi state had lost the election in 2019 to Tata but he challenged the outcome in the courts after which the appellate court ordered for a supplementary Poll.
