PDP BoT Member Shuaib Oyedokun Defects to APC
Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, a former Deputy National Chairman and member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has resigned from the party. The announcement of his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was made through a letter obtained late Thursday night in Osogbo.
Oyedokun cited disillusionment with the current state of the PDP as the reason for his departure. In his resignation letter, he expressed that the founding ideals of the party had been “sorely contaminated,” prompting his decision to seek a new political home where his experience and leadership would be more appreciated.
“I have the honour (though with pain) in announcing the renunciation of my party membership on principle, having observed that the ideals of we, founding members, had been sorely contaminated,” Oyedokun wrote. He emphasized that this decision was made after thorough consultation with his loyalists within the PDP.
Addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP, and routed through the ward, local government, and state chairmen, the letter highlighted Oyedokun’s past contributions and electoral successes within the party. Despite his departure, Oyedokun conveyed his intention to continue his political journey with the APC, confident that his efforts and leadership would be better utilized there.
