PDP Appoints Setonji Koshoedo as Acting National Secretary Amidst Legal Challenges
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Setonji Koshoedo as the acting National Secretary. Koshoedo, formerly the Deputy National Secretary, steps into this role following an announcement by PDP’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum.
The decision was made during the NWC meeting held on Tuesday, where Damagum clarified that Koshoedo’s appointment is interim, awaiting the resolution of an ongoing case in the Enugu High Court. Until this matter is settled, Koshoedo will serve as the acting National Secretary.
Umar Damagum emphasized the need for parties involved in the court case to adhere to the party’s due process. “We decided that the Deputy National Secretary should take over in an acting capacity pending the resolution of the Court case. We also direct parties involved in the Court case to stand down action for the party’s due process,” stated Damagum.
The PDP acting National Chairman highlighted the existence of conflicting court orders, indicating the complexity of the legal situation. Notably, the Enugu High Court had issued an order instructing Sam Anyanwu to refrain from presenting himself, directing Damagum to officially recognize Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary.
This appointment comes at a crucial juncture for the PDP, with legal intricacies adding a layer of complexity to the party’s internal affairs. The situation awaits resolution through legal channels as Setonji Koshoedo assumes his role as the acting National Secretary.
