“APC’s plan to use Wike to destroy PDP is already working” — Abiodun Adeniyi
A Professor of Communications at Baze University Abuja, Abiodun Adeniyi, says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is making measurable progress in efforts to weaken the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking on Prime Time on Arise Television, Adeniyi assessed the outcome of the PDP’s national convention held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
He identified the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a key figure in the unfolding political dynamic. According to him, Wike’s alignment with the APC and President Bola Tinubu began in 2023 and has since become more consistent.
Adeniyi said the combination of internal divisions within the PDP and Wike’s stance could weaken the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections. He added that Wike has been open about opposing the emergence of a strong PDP presidential candidate capable of challenging the incumbent.
He noted that, if current trends continue, the PDP may struggle to remain competitive in the next election cycle.
