Oyo Council to Reconstruct Collapsed Bridges, Drainages
The caretaker Chairman of Oyo East local government area, Prince Arowosaye Saheed has assured that the collapsed Olu-Afolabi bridge in Agboye district and Aweruntu bridge in Oke eletu area would be reconstructed by the council.
Arowosaye gave the assurances on Tuesday when he inspected the bridges. He lamented the state of both bridges.
“The bridges were not properly done as you can see. The people that built it did very unprofessional jobs. We are going to collapse both of them and start from scratch. Our plan is to commence work on both of them as soon as possible before the rainy season comes.
“Most of the flooding in the local government were caused by the bridges and therefore we have made the reconstruction one of our top priorities. We’ll put in addition, a good drainage system to channel the water properly. I am certain that everyone will be satisfied by the quality of job we will do here” he said.
The Chairman was accompanied to the inspection tour by officials of the council.
