Ondo Woman Fatally Strikes Husband with Pestle During Sleep, Son Recounts Horrifying Scene

In a shocking and tragic incident that unfolded in Ondo town, Ondo State, a 12-year-old boy named Ibukun Solomon has provided a harrowing account of how his mother, Tayelolu, allegedly killed his father, Felix, while he was sleeping. This gruesome act followed a minor argument, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.

According to reports gathered by Vanguard, Tayelolu, a mother of three, purportedly took her husband’s life by striking him repeatedly with a pestle while he was asleep in their residence at Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ondo town. The victim, Felix, a 65-year-old farmer, succumbed to the brutal attack.

Trouble had reportedly been brewing in the household, with the couple frequently embroiled in disputes, and Tayelolu allegedly making threats to harm her husband and flee. The situation escalated after another argument erupted over the weekend, leading to this horrific incident.

Ibukun, the couple’s youngest child, narrated the traumatic event to reporters, saying, “My mother killed my father with a pestle in my presence and took to her heels. She used the pestle to hit his head when he was asleep.” He continued, “When my mother saw that my father was unconscious, she hid the pestle at the back of our house and ran away.”

Desperate efforts were made by neighbors to save Felix, rushing him to the hospital, but tragically, he did not survive. His body has since been placed in the morgue.

Family members had previously attempted to mediate between the couple, but their efforts were in vain. The brother of the deceased expressed his anguish, revealing that Tayelolu had repeatedly threatened to kill her husband during their arguments. He demanded justice, asserting, “She must be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.”

While attempts to contact the state police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting, a senior police officer has confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect, who will subsequently face charges of murder in court.
