Former Benue Education Secretary Abducted by Unknown Gunmen

Mr. Sunday Ajeh, the former Education Secretary of Ogbadibo Local Government Area in Benue State, has been abducted by unidentified armed men. The incident took place on Wednesday evening, leaving the community in distress and uncertainty.

Reports suggest that Mr. Ajeh was ambushed while returning home after attending a colleague’s burial ceremony in the nearby Ipole Otukpa village. The armed assailants reportedly blocked the road at Agada Hill, a short distance from Adum Oko village, which is situated in the Orokam axis of the local government area.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the abductors forcibly took Mr. Ajeh and left his vehicle abandoned by the roadside. The discovery of the abandoned car without any trace of the victim alerted the community to the kidnapping.

Local residents immediately raised an alarm and mobilized the youth to initiate a search operation. As of now, the whereabouts of Mr. Ajeh remain unknown, and no contact has been established with his family. Notably, the abductors have not made any ransom demands.

The police have been informed of the incident, although details are still forthcoming. The Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Catherine Anene, confirmed that she is awaiting further information.

This incident adds to a growing concern in the Ogbadibo area, which has seen an increase in daylight abductions of commuters and travelers by armed groups. The safety of residents in the region remains a pressing issue, and authorities are urged to take immediate action to address the security challenges.
