Ondo Deputy Governor Asked to Submit Undated Resignation Letter to Halt Impeachment Threat

Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, clarifies the conditions behind the request for Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa’s resignation letter.

In a press briefing following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu last week, Speaker Oladiji revealed that the undated resignation letter was a crucial measure to prevent the impeachment of Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The resolutions, agreed upon at the meeting, include a call for maintaining peace, halting all impeachment proceedings and court cases, and preserving the status quo. Notably, the undated resignation letter must be written, signed, and submitted to the President.

Speaker Oladiji emphasized that the actions were taken in line with democratic principles and the rule of law. He expressed gratitude for the timely intervention of political leaders, including President Tinubu and APC leadership at state and national levels.

Acknowledging the efforts of elders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders in restoring peace to the Sunshine State, Oladiji urged all parties to prioritize development over political differences.

The Speaker concluded with a warning to politicians fueling tensions, emphasizing the Assembly’s commitment to maintaining order and fostering the much-needed development in the state.

In a related development, the House has approved the appointments of chairmen and caretaker committee members for the newly created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
