Bandits Attack Travelers from Anambra to Owo: Two Killed, NYSC Members Abducted
In a harrowing incident on the Ifon/Owo road in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo state, bandits have killed two people and abducted several members of the National Youth Services Corps (NYSC).
The attack, which took place on Friday night, saw over 20 armed bandits ambush a Sienna space bus carrying passengers, including NYSC members traveling from Anambra state to Owo.
According to sources, the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, hitting the driver and a young woman in the front seat, both of whom died at the scene. The bodies have since been moved to a private hospital morgue in Ifon town.
One of the abducted corps members, identified as Adewole Paul Oluwaseun, was returning from NYSC camp in Enugu when he was taken. The kidnappers have contacted his family, demanding a ransom of N30 million.
Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident, stating that security forces are actively working to rescue the victims. “We’re after them. I can assure you that those kidnapped will be rescued unharmed,” she said.
