“Crime Rate is Declining in Nigeria” – IGP Egbetokun

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has announced a significant reduction in the crime rate across Nigeria. Egbetokun made this statement on Friday following a routine security briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where all Service Chiefs presented updates on the nation’s security landscape to President Bola Tinubu.

Egbetokun highlighted the ongoing collaborative efforts of security agencies to sustain the current decline in crime rates. “We have consistently provided security briefings to the President, and he is pleased with the progress. We are committed to continuing our coordinated efforts to maintain and further this decline,” he said.

In support of the IGP’s remarks, Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa emphasized the military’s commitment to restoring Nigeria’s oil production to the benchmark of 2.1 million barrels per day. Musa stressed the critical role oil revenue plays in the nation’s economy and vowed to secure oil installations against theft and sabotage.

“The President is aware of the challenges faced by local communities and is committed to addressing their concerns,” Musa stated. “We are determined to achieve full production and will take necessary actions against those who threaten our infrastructure. This effort requires a united approach from all security services and state governments to ensure success.”

Both Egbetokun and Musa assured Nigerians of continued efforts to improve security and restore stability in the country.
