“Obi Is My Project, I’ll Destroy the Obidient Movement”
Reno Omokri has declared his commitment to dismantling the Obidient Movement, a group of supporters rallying behind Peter Obi. Speaking with *News Central* on Thursday, March 27, Omokri stated that Obi was his “project” and that he played a key role in Obi’s selection as running mate to Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Omokri asserted that he personally recommended Obi for the position and has documented proof of his involvement. He described himself as a meticulous record keeper and expressed his disappointment in the movement that emerged in support of Obi.
According to Omokri, his conflict with the Obidient Movement escalated when its members allegedly began harassing him. Initially, he said, the attacks were directed at him personally, but they later extended to his family. He recounted receiving multiple death threats and claimed that members of the movement followed him and his wife while they were jogging in the United Kingdom.
Omokri revealed that despite his complaints, Obi failed to intervene, prompting him to take action. He stated that he would use every political resource at his disposal to dismantle the movement, which he believes has become a threat to him and his family.
