“Nigeria Needs Tinubu Beyond 2027” – Tompolo, Host Communities
Leaders and residents of Nigeria’s oil-producing host communities have declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that the country needs his leadership beyond 2027. The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), whose grand patron is Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, endorsed Tinubu for a second term, arguing that continuity is crucial for national progress.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, HOSTCOM President Benjamin Tamaranebi emphasized that the 2027 elections would present Nigerians with a choice between stability and uncertainty. He praised Tinubu’s leadership, describing it as a turning point for Nigeria’s economic recovery and development. According to Tamaranebi, Tinubu’s policies and reforms have set the nation on a path to prosperity, and it is essential to consolidate these gains rather than disrupt progress.
Reflecting on Tinubu’s early days in office, Tamaranebi noted that expectations were high, with many doubting his ability to navigate Nigeria’s challenges, including declining crude oil production and overwhelming debt servicing. However, he asserted that the President had defied skeptics, rolled up his sleeves, and taken decisive action to address these issues.
The HOSTCOM leader further argued that Tinubu’s administration has empowered local communities and needs more time to complete its initiatives. He urged Nigerians to make a choice in 2027 between continuity and chaos, stressing that nation-building requires patience, persistence, and vision. According to him, Tinubu has demonstrated all three qualities, proving himself to be a statesman rather than just a politician.
Acknowledging that no leader is perfect, Tamaranebi admitted there would always be challenges and tough decisions in governance. However, he maintained that Nigeria is in a better position today than it was two years ago and that further progress would be possible if Tinubu’s leadership continues.
The endorsement comes after a thorough evaluation of Tinubu’s performance, with Tompolo, an influential figure in the Niger Delta, also giving high marks to the President’s efforts in human development.
