“You Can’t Scare Me Off — I’ve Been Down This Path Before” — Tinubu Tells Opposition
President Bola Tinubu has dismissed mounting opposition pressure ahead of the 2027 elections, saying he remains undeterred by political challenges.
He spoke on Thursday at the State House in Abuja while receiving members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, led by Hope Uzodimma.
Tinubu said attempts to intimidate him would not succeed, noting his experience in navigating similar situations in the past.
The president emphasised the need for forward-thinking leadership, urging supporters to focus on reforms aimed at long-term national development rather than past approaches.
On the economy, Tinubu said he takes responsibility for current conditions and described the late Muhammadu Buhari as a governing partner, suggesting continuity between their administrations.
He acknowledged that reforms may be difficult but maintained they are necessary to address structural challenges and improve economic outcomes.
Tinubu also called on supporters to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, describing them as key to advancing efforts to reduce poverty and expand opportunity.
Reaffirming his commitment to democratic principles, he stressed respect for the rule of law, judicial independence, and the separation of powers.
The meeting was attended by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, along with several governors, former governors, and senior members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
