Lightning Strike Kills Herder, 12 Cows in Southern Kaduna
Lightning struck and killed a herder and 12 cows in Southern Kaduna, leaving the local community in shock. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025, in Matuak Giwa, Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom, within the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to the Village Head of Matuak Giwa, Simon Ayuba, the young herder, identified as Ibrahim Likit, was seeking shelter from the rain alongside his cattle when the lightning strike occurred, killing them instantly. Ayuba described the event as a tragic loss for the community.
The Ardo of Bondon District, Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, confirmed that the deceased herder was originally from Bauchi State. He expressed deep sorrow over the incident and urged residents to offer prayers and support for the grieving family. The victim was buried according to Islamic rites.
