“My Friend is Frustrated” – Bala Mohammed Criticizes Wike Over Threat to PDP Governors

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has criticized Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, calling him a “frustrated politician” in response to Wike’s recent threat against governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike had earlier issued a warning to “set fire” in PDP-governed states following the party governors’ show of solidarity with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. This threat sparked reactions within the PDP, with the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) condemning Wike’s remarks.

Speaking on Tuesday while receiving members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) in Bauchi, Governor Mohammed downplayed Wike’s threat, emphasizing that internal party disagreements are never personal. He described Wike as a “frustrated” individual and dismissed the minister’s comments as inconsequential.

“We are united here in Bauchi. No one can set Bauchi on fire. We have enough water to put out any fire. My friend who made that comment is frustrated. Perhaps I said something that upset him, but it’s not personal,” Mohammed said, reaffirming his relationship with Wike while separating their personal ties from professional responsibilities.

Governor Mohammed also reiterated the importance of unity within the PDP to ensure the party’s continued influence and contributions to national development. He stressed that internal disputes should not be misunderstood as division.

In his remarks, the National Legal Advisor of the PDP, Kamaldeen Ajibade Adeyemi, SAN, expressed the NWC’s support for the governor, stating, “We stand with you and assure you that whatever actions the Governors’ Forum decides, we, as the NWC, will be ready to implement them.”
