Mohbad Death Investigation: Court Remands Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Others in Custody

A Magistrate court in Yaba has ordered the remand of prominent Nigerian musician Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, Samson Eletu, popularly called Sam Larry, Ogedengbe Fisayo, and Ayobami Sadiq in police custody for a period of twenty-one days. This development comes as part of the ongoing investigation into the tragic death of the twenty-seven-year-old music artiste, Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad.

The decision to remand the suspects followed an application by the police, represented by Deputy Superintendent of Police Umaru Bello and Assistant Superintendent of Police Augustine Nwabuisi, who sought additional time to conclude their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.

Magistrate Adeola Olatubosun, presiding over the case, ruled that the suspects be remanded for twenty-one days, a duration slightly shorter than the thirty days initially requested by the Lagos State Police Command. In a further display of the judicial process, the court granted the suspects access to legal representation, allowing them to choose their own legal counsel.

In a parallel development, the Lagos State Police Command issued a warrant for the arrest of Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, a close friend of the late singer. Primeboy has failed to honor the police’s invitations since the commencement of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. To incentivize his apprehension, the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, has offered a one million naira reward to anyone who provides useful information leading to Primeboy’s arrest.

The unfortunate demise of Ilerioluwa Aloba occurred on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances, casting a shadow of mystery and intrigue over the music industry and law enforcement agencies in Lagos. The ongoing investigation aims to shed light on the events that led to the untimely death of the talented artist.
