Moghalu Picks LP Anambra Governorship Form
Chief George Moghalu, a founding National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially joined the Anambra governorship race under the Labour Party (LP). Moghalu picked up the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms, signaling his intention to challenge Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the November 2025 election.
At the Labour Party headquarters in Abuja, Moghalu presented his nomination forms to the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure. The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) expressed confidence in his chances of emerging as the LP candidate in April and ultimately winning the November 8 governorship election.
Despite the ongoing leadership crisis within the Labour Party, Moghalu remains optimistic that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, along with other key figures in Anambra, will support his bid for office. He emphasized that his ambition is not a battle but a democratic contest, expressing faith that he will secure the party’s ticket.
“I have confidence that the party leadership will provide us a platform for fair contestation. At the end of the day, one person will fly the flag of the Labour Party in Anambra State, and I believe, with confidence in God, that I will be that person,” Moghalu said.
Addressing party leaders, he pledged unwavering commitment to the Labour Party, assuring them that he would not betray their trust. He further stated that his decision to join the LP came after extensive consultations with his constituents and other stakeholders.
“A lot of people who know me were surprised that I changed my political platform. I have always remained with one party since the inception of this democratic dispensation, but I had to leave to join the Labour Party,” he explained.
In response, LP National Chairman Julius Abure welcomed Moghalu into the party, commending his confidence in the party’s vision. He assured the aspirant of a level playing field in the upcoming primary election scheduled to take place in Awka, Anambra State.
