Landlords’ Union Backs Tinubu for Second Term, Plans Abuja Endorsement Event
The Landlords Voice Association of Nigeria (LAVAN) has declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the next election cycle, citing what it described as impactful policy direction and renewed optimism among citizens.
In a statement issued on April 14, the association’s national president, Falola Vincent O. Ogidan, said members had passed a vote of confidence in the administration, pointing to governance reforms and investments in human capital as key factors behind the endorsement.
Ogidan said the group would organise a formal endorsement event in Abuja. The gathering is expected to be chaired by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, who also leads the Renewed Hope Initiative. Senior government officials, including the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, are anticipated to attend.
The association said its decision reflects its position as a nationwide body representing landlords and property stakeholders, noting that its members are active participants in the democratic process.
Beyond the endorsement, LAVAN raised concerns about local government autonomy, calling for stronger institutional independence at the grassroots level. Ogidan said the group is engaging with key stakeholders, including the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, on the issue.
He added that the association expects political actors to support reforms aimed at strengthening local governance, warning that such issues could influence voter decisions.
